Repeating columns cuts off merged cells

    Hi all,

I hope you can help because I can't find a solution to this one.

I've got a two page spreadsheet (side by side) and I'm trying to repeat
columns A & B because their row headings on the left and should only
appear when printed (split onto two pages) (as in print setup > columns
to repeat at left > $A:$B),

    ...... but

B57:I57 are merged and wrapped (another grief that merged wrapped cells
don't auto height, but that's for another day) and so are B58:I58 and
    B59:I59 (footer things).

    ...... and when printed,

B57:I57, etc. cuts off on the second page and displays what's only
    visible in columns A & B.

...... how can I make B57:I57 viewable on the second page?

By the way, the two pages are A1:I:62 and J1:P62.

I'd sure appreciate some help. I've spent a bunch of time on this and
think its time to ask for some advice.

I've tried adding J & K as a second set of row headings that repeat
what's in A & B and hide them on the screen, but they result in the
    same thing.

If only I could repeat columns A1:B42 and A57:B62, I'd be okay. I also
tried spliting the print range into three parts (page one, top of page
two and bottom of page two) and just leaving out the footers on the
bottom of page two, but it resulted in splitting my worksheet into
three pages, not two, i.e. A1:I62,L1:R42,L60:R62.

    Thanks muchly,

    Michele

Re: Repeating columns cuts off merged cells

    Hi,

    I haven't received a reply so I thought I'd post again because I still
    need a solution.

I've had to start my footnote in Column C (C-I) which is the first none
repeated column, which of course doesn't look very good.

    Thanks again,

    Michele

Why can't you put the text which you have in B57:I59 into a normal
footer? Use File | Page Setup | Header/Footer | Custom Footer and put
it all in the left hand box.

    Hope this helps.

    Pete

Re: Repeating columns cuts off merged cells

    Hi Pete,

Thanks for the suggestion, but I can't use a footer because:

1- The document is designed by a very expensive graphic design company
and black text makes designers nuts. It has to be gray and you can't
    change text colour in footers.

2 - I need up to 1600 characters in the footer and Excel only handles
    up to 255.

3 - I can't figure out how to make the footer respect my left margin
setting of .85 and line up with the main body of my page. It appears
    to be at about .5.

    Thanks for trying anyway.

    Any other suggestions please?

    Thanks again,

    Michele
