    limit of setting conditions

    Hi friends

I have 26 different kinds of materials and each one could have nearly 200 different type of processing. That is to say for instance, I have column A holds 26 different kinds of material and column b holds 200 different kinds of processing. It is tedious to have a1 content to merge with each one of the 200 column b cells then a2 again...I tested by setting condition such as 'if ... then.' to make each kind of material to appear the time I desire. However, I know that there is a limit of setting conditioning. I think there will not be able for me to 26 x 200 'if ..then' I wish that someone could help me on this .

    Thank you

    Re: limit of setting conditions

    Hi lalaexcel,

You're right 26 x 200 is way beyond standard excel
functions, however, that doesn't mean that it is beyond
    Excel.

For problems like that you need to apply some lateral
thinking and this group is full of brilliant lateral thinkers.

Post again giving full details of what your initial data is and
what you want to achieve and someone should be able
to come up with the result you're looking for.

    Regards
    Martin

    setting condtions

    Hi there

I have a worksheet where in which Column A1:A26 I have 26 different kinds of materials and Column C1:C200 I have 200 different kinds of processing methods. Usually I could have any one of the A1:A26 to do the processing of anyone on the list of C1:C200. That is to say, I could have a combination of A1&C1...&A1&C200. Then finally I should have a A26&C200.. etc etc. I tried to set the 'If ..then ' to tell the computer to start the A2 running after it has finished the A1&C200. But I know that it is not possible for me to set so many conditioning.

    Regards
