Ranges A2:A34 contain dates. A date entered into F37 is intended to return
the sums that match from E2:E34. Why do I only return zero?

Hi Jonas,
Try:
=SUMIF(A2:A34,F37,E2:E34)
Cheers

Because you are asking it to sum for the text "F37"
no need for the equal sign when all you want is equal to
=SUMIF(A2:A34,F37,E2:E34)
if you want greater than you would need
=SUMIF(A2:A34,">"&F37,E2:E34)
