Table Row reference issues between 2007 and 2010

Hi, I'm having a problem with the compatibility between 2007 and 2010 Excel.

I have a file that uses [#This Row] references in some tables and works fine. When the file was put into a 2010 version of the software, it now reads as an "@" symbol but everything still works correctly. When opening the file with 2007 after it has been updated by the 2010 version, everywhere that had an "@" now shows "#REF!".

It was my understanding that this was purely a readability (for users) change and 2007 should still be able to read 2010 files just fine but this doesn't seem to be the case. Since some of my clients aren't using 2010, I'd like to know how to address this issue. Any and all help is appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Veysey

    Hi Veysey,

If there were changes, I think it would show on this page:

Re: Table Row reference issues between 2007 and 2010

HI - long time since this thread was raised, however I have just come up with a similar issue. I have a table which was originally created in Excel 2007, and is now being used in Excel 2010. I recently 'resized' the table and saved (using ctrl s), after that point it would not work in Excel 2007 (and had to be 'repaired' to be used in E2007). I have some users that have E2010 and some with E2007 installed, too expensive to get everyone upgraded
Looking at the formulas when viewed in E2007, noticed that all the table references had been replaced with #ref, but in E2010 used the @ symbol.

I have checked the compatibility (using the E2010 Compatibility checker) but no issues found, so searched internet for solution - came across this thread. My solution to this issue was to carry out the folowing procedure
    (a) remove the filter from the table in E2010
    (b) delete all the formulas in the E2010 table that used 'named references'
    (c) open the sheet in E2007
    (d) redo formulas in columns in E2007 format - e.g (=Master_fabric_Table1[[#This Row],[Code]]&"-"&Master_fabric_Table1[[#This Row]),
    (e) re-enable filter, save and close
    (e) re-open in E2010
    (f) resave

a bit of a pain to say the least, but it works, and prevented me having to lose my whole table format, and reset a lot of other information. Any idea why this is not mentioned the Excel 2007 / Excel 2010 compatability issues? I checked the link above from Veysey, but could see an easy solution.
