excel links popup message - very annoying

    Hi,
I am having problems with the continual popping up of the following message:

"Links to "xxxx.xls" were not updated because "xxxx.xls" was not recalculated before it was last saved.
To update links with current values in "xxxx.xls" click OK.
To cancel updating the links to "xxxx.xls" click Cancel"

This happens within a spreadsheet virtually everytime I create a new link to that particular spreadhseet. So this is using up a lot of time.

It is not practical to update all spreadhseets before saving. So what I am wondering is whether it is possible to switch off this prompt somewhow and let Excel not care that the spreadhseet was not recalculated before it was last saved.

    Thanks for all your help.

Sorry, the *.xls reply was not intended for you.

On your issue, there are some options for links under "Edit" then "Links"
    that may be helpful.

Try going to Explore and search for *.xls on your hard drive.

unfortunately none of the options under edit/links solve the problem
nor does changing the tools/options/edit box which says "ask to update automatic links"
