cell contains formula cannot modify

Hello,

I am working on a spreadsheet in Excel and when trying to edit certain cells it comes up with the following error:

"Cell contains a formula. Cannot Modify. Must select Cancel."

Any idea what this means? There is no formula that I can see in these sells and I have made sure that they are unlocked.

try this
select that cell
go to menu Data > Validation under Settings tab press Clear All button at bottom.
now see if it works

I can't click on the validation, it's greyed out, not allowing me to select it.

ok, that sheet is protected with a passward.
check it go to Tools > Protection and see if there is option Unprotect sheet.
if it is there you need passward to unprotect it (somebody has protected it)
