    Cash Register with Excel

    Hi all,

I'm trying to make a simple Cash Register with Excel. The problem is how to get an end-of-the-day-report!?

The main problem I have is communicating with the Windows OS! I could then maybe use the ">>" (incrementing) command in DOS and get excel to add the the value rows to the end of the Report-file?!

I've searched the Web a lot but can't find anything suitable - except ready made programs of course. But I want to use excel cause I can later do better data-handling if neccessary!

Heard there's a way to export to Access and use VBA etc. But I've never used Access and dont know VBA-programming .

    Greatful for any help!

    Thanx,
    Nasaja/

Yes! Guess I know enough excel for the task

Went a course in it many years ago. Since then used it at a work to set up some of the company's spreadsheets and for my own sallery and even some scientific calculations etc. Worked as a programmer before and know C, Ada, Assembler etc. . Also worked as administrator (official IT-Coord. of a company) in Windows NT and Unix environments.

For this task I've already done almost everything else neccessary - with both excel and the printing software for the specialzed thermal printer!

Just hope to cook up a simple soup for this task

    Thank you for your replies!

Am I missing something? I checked the Templates site and they seem to be just templates with no other 'functionality'. What I'm looking for is some excel programming method that enables Excel to interoperates with the Windows XP 'shell' (as called in Unix)!

For example in Linux (and alike) one can almost always send the resulting text of a program to the OS, and thereby transfer that text to another program.

In this case I'm trying to copy part of an Excel file to a normal Text File; but I need to automise it! So that for example, one could add a button to Excel, so that every time you hit that specific button, a few of the excel fields are copied and added to the end of the Text File! This Text File can then be called the Daily Report !

Please tell me if I am explaining it unclear. Thanx
