    A little Elementary help

I must admit, I am a networking/hardware guy, I never really dug to deep into Excel.

My son came home with a Excel study sheet for his mid-terms.
Mind if ask you guys some questions?

    1.Each worksheet in a workbook has_____columns
    2.Each worksheet in a workbook has_____rows
3.A column letter above the grid is called?
4.a cell's unique address is called?
    5. The small black square located in the lower-right corner of the heavy border around the active cell is called?
6.The____version of a worksheet shows the actual formulas.
    7. A_______ is a group of adjacent cells.

I may have more as we go along, if that is ok.
    Thanks for the help!

While I sympathise with your willingness to help you son with his studies, wouldn't he learn more by studying rather than asking someone else for the answers? Perhaps his Excel text book can help.

If you attach a sample of your workbook it will be easier to find a solution. Remember to remove/replace sensitive data before uploading the file. Look here if you need help with attachments:

    Agree with tuph,

    but would add that

items 1 & 2 are found by searching Help on 'Limits',

item 3, I presume they are referring to Column Heading, but check the user manual

item 4, the intersection of a row and a column, I thought it WAS called it's unique address,

item 5, research 'formula fill' and see either David McRitchie or the Contextures site,

item 6, CTRL ~ hardly seems an answer they would be looking for, my next guess would be 'formula option' (yeah, no wonder I fail Excel)

item 7, is where Americans are "Home Home on the "

These are too difficult, hope you have some easier ones next time.

    Cheers.

    Hi,

    Agree with Tuph ...

In addition, these questions do not lead somebody to enjoy the real fun of Excel ... it is even quite the opposite ... they are pretty dull ...

Playing around with small excercices would give him a lot more of insight as to why Excel is such a real magical tool ... !!!
