Basic Question - Making 3 columns out of one

    Greetings and Good Cheer...

I have a spreadsheet, one of the columns for which contains people's names. I need to submit this spreadsheet with the names broken down so that the first and last names, and the middle initial, all receive their own column. Is this possible?

Thank you very much in advance!

If your data is in column A, select it and go to Data > Text to columns, accept the defaults, in step 2, tick space

This is possible assuming the names are seperated from each other by a space

highlight the column the names are in.

Go to Data, Text to columns, choose delimited, click on next. Check the space check box and click on next. Here you should have a preview of the outcome.

    Click on finish if ok.

This shouls seperate the names depending on how many spaces there are and put each name in a seperate cell
