Pivot Tables - Removing old dropdown items

How do I remove "old" drop-down menu items in pivot table?
I am pulling from a database. We used to have a northeast region, now it is no longer but it still remains in my pivot table in the region field drop down. How can I get rid of this? I have many more cases where this happens and need a solution other than re-create the pivot. Please help!

    Hi,

To manually clear the old items from the list:

    1. Drag the pivot field out of the pivot table
    2. On the Pivot toolbar, click the Refresh button
    2. Drag the pivot field back to the pivot table
