Freeze-Frame

Hello all,

I have what I imagine is a very simple problem to fix. I'm trying to freeze panes in an Excel spreadsheet, but when I attempt it, the panes section off into a four-way grid, and the freeze doesn't work for the cells I had selected. I've attached a screenshot of the spreadsheet after the freeze.
