Question Question About averaging numbers Read below.

I am pretty much a total noob when it comes to excel, but I am not an idiot.

Here's what I want to do, tell me if it is possible and if you could help me out I would greatly appreciate it.

I want to have a column, let's say C3 average out total sales for a number that I enter into, let's say cell E3. But the kicker is, each time I sell something I want to enter the total sale price into the same cell E3. Each time I enter it into E3 it will average that with previous entries into E3 into cell C3.

    I think that makes sense.

To simplify what I mean, or complicate even further, lets say I have 10 apples. Each apple I sell will be a different price. $1, $2, $6 etc. I enter those values into the SAME cell and it computes the average of each entry into another cell.

    Any Ideas... is it possible?

    Good morning ROIKE

...and welcome to the idiot's forum!!!!

Not directly, what you would need to do is set up a simple macro that would copy a number to a range (hidden or not?) and average that range. The example below does just that. Change your cell E3 and click the little button. The value is added to the next empty row in H and cell C3 is recalulated.

think i got it figured out. However instead of listing the Entered value sales down a column is it possible to list the horizontally. Like down h3 i3 j3 etc.
