Question Broken links between excel and word...

I have made links between 2 documents (placed in the same folder), one excel and one word document. Everything works as it should. The thing is that when I move the documents from one folder to another the links are broken. Is there a way to keep my two documents linked to each other all the time even though I move them to another folder?

    Example:
    Files: numbers.xls & text.doc
    Placed in folder “C:\folder1”

As it is now the link in text.doc looks like “C:\folder1\numbers.xls”
If I move my documents to “C:\folder2” the link in text.doc will still be “C:\folder1\numbers.xls”.

Summary: I want the link in my text.doc to point directly to the same folder as it is placed in, not “C:\whatever\folder\...”

    Anyone who has an idea?

this appears to a question relating to Word rather than excel

however rather than having the full path just use the file name.

If the two word doc and excel doc are in the same folder this should work, but it will all depend if you are working on a server connection.

sometimes it matters other times it doesn't.

Also it may be better for you to use a form to allow the user to selct the file location for excel file the word doc is liinking two.

But its best asking a word forum rather than excel if there is no problem with you excel file.
