Importing a pdf file into Excel

I have a pdf file which is a line drawing that I would like to import into excel. I used import object and pdf file. I get a box which has an acrobat pdf icon on it. When I click that the pdf file opens. Is there a way that the contents of pdf file itself (i.e. my line drawing) can be displayed in the box rather than the icon which refers me to the file. When I look at the worksheet I want my line drawing to be displayed above some data I have below. The data and the line drawing are not related mathematically.

In XL2000 the Insert Object (from file) Dialog has two check boxes, link to file and Display as Icon. With both these boxes Unchecked, you get a picture of the first page of the pdf. Double clicking the picture opens the original doc in the Reader.

Thanks for your reply. I just tried what you said, but it still doesn't work. I still get the acrobat icon. I'm using Excel 2000. I don't know what version of acrobat was used to create the file, but should that matter? My own version of acrobat is on the old side, but it doesn't seem as if that should matter. Or does it? .....Joan
