    Special Formatting

If I have dates entered in the spreadsheet in the format yyyymmdd with no delimiters, how do I have Excel recognize and preferably change the format? Presently, I cannot change the format from general to date without Excel replacing all elements with ########.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Hi,

Try a helper column. Say data in Col A enter this in B1 and drag down. Then pastespecial values and format as yyyymmdd

    =RIGHT(A1,2)&"/"&MID(A1,5,2)&"/"&LEFT(A1,4)

or Select the range then data > text to Column > then next 3 times through wizard. then change to date format YMD. Then format cells as yyyymmdd
