hello.

im looking for help with the following.

in one cell it will contain the letter A, B, C, D which changes with the date.

i want to pull data from another sheet depending what letter is in the cell. For example if it contains A i want to show a list of names beside it and if it shows B i want it to show a diff list of names (these names are pulled from other sheet). with the IF function all i can add is 1 name from 1 row on the other sheet. is there a way of showing entire list of names depending on what letter it is as the number of names under A, B, C and D on the other sheet vary in length.


eg i am trying to use =IF(C3="A",Sheet1!B3:B14,"noname")
but this will only give me the name in B3 and i want to show the list of names in B3, B4... to B14.

sounds like you need to 'lookup' the appropriate names

In each of the destination cells you wil need to have a vlookup formula that uses A1 as the identifier - Check it out in the Excel help section
