    Question Conditional Formatting Greater than surrounding Cells

    I am trying to conditional format a central cell to highlight when the value of that cell is greater than each of the surrounding cells. I would also like to highlight the cell when it is less than each of the surrounding cells. When I try to use the cell value is - greater than - and then select each of the surrounding cells, a message appears stating that "You may not use unions, intersections, or array constants for conditional formatting criteria"
    Is there any way to format the cell to get my desired output?
    To explain, the cell value represents spot elevations on a 10 foot grid and I am trying to highlight high points and low points within the terrain.
    Thanks for any suggestions

    Try using Formula Is:

    and then enter a formula with And()

    eg..=And(K6<K5,K6<K8,K6<L6,K6<J6)

    where K6 is the cell to highlight and K5,K8,L6,J6 are surrounding cells.
    Where there is a will there are many ways.
