Finding first hyphen from the left

    Hi all,

I want to strip the value of column A up until it finds a '-'

    for example

    A
    UK - Code GUI
    UK - Back-end reconstruction
    Thailand - Code GUI II

I want to return in column B, the first part of the value in column A,
    so
    UK
    UK
    Thailand repsectively.

can anybody show me how to do this?

    many thanks,
    Matt

With your text in A1, put this in B1

    =LEFT(A1,FIND("-",A1,1)-1)
