Incrementing invoice number

I created an invoice and saved it as a template. I want the invoice number to increment by 1 each time the template is opened to create a new invoice. How can I make this work?

Probably write a macro that looks at the all the files in the invoice folder and finds the highest one and saves it automatically with the highest +1.

Either that or have a file somewhere that keeps track of the current one and updates from there.

Either way writing a macro will be your best bet.
