Changing column numbers to negative

Hi all,

I'm working with data that comes in through EDI and the column cells are formated as text i've highlighted the whole column and changed to Negative number (2,500) but they still show as positive. The only way it works is i have to retype the number and it works, my problem is i'm working with thousands of numbers and to retype them all is non-productive. Is there a simple function that will do this for me.

Insert an helper column and put this formula in

=VALUE(A1) then copy formula down

Now I can see your data, are you talking about the values in K6:20?

Do you want to show then like (1362.52), if so then insert a column to the right of column K and insert in L6

=VALUE(K6)*-1

and Auto-fill the formula down the column to K20. Then select L6:L20, copy and paste special > values over K6:K20, then delete column L
