converting string of this type :#####D-## to a regular number

    Hello,

I am trying to convert a string like this one:

    0.84169623248763D-03

    to a regular number.

Notice that, because it has the letter D to represent E (Scientific Notation format), Excel would not recognize this as a number, so the only way to force this, is by typing E in place of D. The problem is that I have a column of 15000 or so of this kind of string. I need to automate this using MACROS, but I could not see how to do this.

Could somebody show me how to do this. Or any other way. Thanks
