    Decimals and currency

I'm having a weird issue. Granted I'm not a power user, but I've used excel for many years.

I'm trying to enter numbers and excel is assuming I'm entering them in decimal format.

For example, if I enter 1, the cell will read .01
If I enter 100, the cell will read 1

I've tried different settings (numbers, accounting, currency), but this happens in all.

I'm used to entering a 1 and excel assuming that is 1.0. Is there something I'm missing here.

If I want to enter $100, I now must type 10000.... what can I do?
