    Format in cell changes automatically

I'm here to prove that it is not only the unasked question which is the only stupid question...
Using invoice template, formatting cells to general, I am trying to enter date in xx/xx/xx format, tho it reverts to date format - xx/xx/xxxx. Sometimes.
Have tried formatting column, cell by cell, and groups of cells, yet it still has amind of it's own.

    Use Custom Format

The "general" format trys to work out what it thinks you might want, and sometimes gets it wrong.

If you want a very specific format then use the "custom" formats

The one you want is probably dd/mm/yy (or mm/dd/yy).

    Hey, it works!

    Thank you much.

Any idea why some cells would change over and others not when they seem to all be formatted the same? Just tryin' to learn me sumthin...

    Just Guessing

Without looking at your particular situation, I might hassard a guess that it might be giving a four digit year when it might be a 19## date but a two digit year when it is almost certainly a 20## date.
