    summing

    Hi,
I have 3 columns, and want to use the first 2 to determine the total from column 3. For example the "total" of "A " "in use" = 400

    A.... IN USE.... 200
    A.... FULL...... 100
    C.... IN USE.... 200
    D.... IN USE.... 150
    E.... FULL...... 150
    A.... IN USE.... 200

    Thank you for any help...

    Try

    =SUMPRODUCT(--(A1:A6="a")*(B1:B6="In Use")*(C1:C6))
