Hi
I have a problem with a match index formula, I keep getting the value error even though I press CNTRL+SHIFT+ENTER when executing the formula and I've double checked the ranges of the referenced cells, so that shouldn't be the problem. could someone look at the formula and see if there is something wrong with it. It seems to be correct but I cant get it to work.
this is the formula used in my example:
=MATCH(INDEX(I3:AP3,MATCH(MIN(ABS(I3:AP3-E3)),ABS(I3:AP3-E3),0)),I3:AP3,1)
my example has a german formula, however vergleich=match and the arguments are separated by a ; instead of , The rest is the same.
In my example I would like the formula to tell me in what column under growth class the value of SL90 is to be found. Row 8 is a perfect example of my problem. Just using a simple match function, when no exact match is found will bring the next closest match smaller than the searched value. I would like to find the closest match regardless if the next closes match is higher or lower, just as long as the match is the closest to whats being searched for.
I was given the formula on this forum
http://www.mrexcel.com/board2/viewto...r=asc&&start=0
but with this formula I'm always getting I'm always getting the VALUE error even if I'm pressing CNTRL+SHIFT+ENTER.
can anyone help?
