    Cancelling the Update Values Box

I have hundreds of cells which reference another file, with the filepath Z:\mydocs\bank1\etc...

When I want to update them, I do an edit/replace for the filepath, depending on where I want to change the path to. i.e. replace bank1 with bank2

The problem is I have to do more than one edit replace on a cell to get the new file path right, but when excel realizes it doesn't have a correct link yet, it gives me an update values message box for every single cell i replaced. I have to click hundreds of times to cancle the message box as it replaces each individual cell.

Is there a way to turn this update value box off?

Not sure whether this will work but try setting the calculation under Tools, Options, Calculation to Manual.

If you attach a sample of your workbook it will be easier to find a solution. Remember to remove/replace sensitive data before uploading the file. Look here if you need help with attachments:
