projecting an amount as a normal distribution?

    Experts,

Was wondering if anyone on here can help me with an Excel issue that no one seems to be able to solve.

in general, I would like to somehow use excel to project a given amount over a set amount of time along a normal distribution.

as an example, i'd like to project $1M over 12 months with each column representing a month. so, there would be 12 fundings totally $1M. If you were to plot these 12 fundings on a graph, with the months on the x-axis and the fundings on the y-axis, a bell curve would be drawn assuming a best fit line was in place. but, i don't want the graph really, i want the numbers projected.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

    thanks.

    Hello RealEstateFinan,

To produce a meaningful normal distribution would take more than 12 single samples. What you want to do can be graphed on Chart using a Histogram. Check your Help Files for examples.

    thanks Leith.

I'm not looking to get an exact normal distribution . . . just an estimate is fine. Also, i'm not sure how the histogram will help me . . . its ok though, i think this is something excel just can't do. thanks again
