Smile Newbe problem with CD burning

Hi , I''m new here and I have a problem I wouuld love to get solved. I created an Inventory sheet in Excel (for Mac) for my business and saved it to my Desltop. I can open the program and make changes and save. Works great. The problem comes in when I try to burn it to a CD-RW, it will go on there but then becomes read only. I am on a new Mac Pro, and I go in to the info for the folder and into the permissions and I have read and write permission. Any idea of what the problem can be? I just want to make the disk so I can make changes and save. I had this problem with my Windows machine also, and it only got solved by buying a CD burning program and re-formatting the disk. Thanks.

CD's are not designed as temporary storage media, hence, re-writable really means reuseable; but, you have to re-format to reuse. So, if you are trying to use the CD as a removable hard drive, you are out of luck. You should be using a flashdrive/thumbdrive or an old-fashioned floppy.

Thanks for the reply. That explains alot. I juust I think I will go for a never looked into the Flashdrives and I don't even have an old Floppy port anymore on my computers. It sounds like I should go for a Flashdrive, as I have a lot of USB ports on my Mac and even have them on the keyboard. Is there a brand and size that is recommended? I suppose bigger is better.
