    help!

    I am trying to sort an excel spreadsheet and I need help.
    my spread sheet looks something like this:

    column 1

    Jane Doe
    ID # 99999
    John Doe
    ID # 00000
    Chris Smith
    ID # 33333


    I want to sort the names in alphebetical order but need the ID numbers to stay with the names they go with. Can I do this! Thanks for the help!!

    Hi there,

    No, the ID will have to be in a separate column. Not sure how many records you have, but make a copy of the relevant tab and let me know if the following code (which assumes the data starts at cell A1 and is continuos to the last entry) does the trick:
