Hello. I had a strange problem occur after downloading Windows messenger.

First off, prior to installing Windows Messenger, Excel worked fine. When I got my computer a few years ago, I only had a 60 day trial of MS Office 2003. I later downloaded MS Office 2003 and it's been working fine.

The first thing I noticed after downloading Windows messenger was MS Outlook 2003 was installed as well. My computer originally had MS Outlook Express, and I've been using Mozilla Thunderbird. I thought it was pretty strange that that was downloaded as well, but that's not the issue.

After downloading messenger, I started having problems with Excel. Whenever I try to open an Excel file, it goes to a registration page. However, whenever I open the Excel program, it opens fine. From there, I can go to File, and open any Excel file without problem.

Now my problem isn't major, and I can still open files... I just have to open the Excel program first, and then open the file. I can't double click on a file like I used to.

Anyways, sorry for the long post. I'm just trying to figure out why this occured. I tried doing a system restore to a point before installing messenger, but that didn't help.

Thanks!
