    Importing Dates from .csv files

    Hello All

I've searched the threads, Googled and read Chip Pearson's very useful resource dealing with Dates, but without luck.

I have an import .csv file that shows 8 figure dates, e.g. 03/09/07 for today's date.

Some of the time Excel loads this as a date and converts to the 10 figure date 03/09/2007, and some of the time Excel loads the line as text.

The function producing the .csv is very old and can't be changed, is there any way I can force Excel to load the dates in 10 figure format?

Thanks in advance for your help

    Colin

Don't know if this will really help, but converting dates that are text can be done as follows

Enter "1" ( without quotes) in a cell
    Select the cell
    Ctrl-C
Select the range with dates ( dates or text)
    Right-click
    Select "Paste special"
    Select " multiply"
    OK

    Wow, that's amazing!

I never thought it would work but it did - perfectly.

    Thanks
