Excel has 2 useful functions that you might find useful: NETWORKDAYS() and WORKDAY(). Also the COUNTIF() formula might be helpful for your needs.
Check the help system to see if they can assist you. I think you may need to have additional columns to the left of column B showing dates for each month with a 1 or 0 for each employee as they attend/ are absent to allow these formulae to calculate days worked and days remaining.
