    Deleting Cells

    Hi,

I'm trying to delete cells based on a few things.

I have attached an example Workbook.

Column A in my workbook should contain a persons surname.

The names have been put here using "Text to Columns". Sometimes people have multiple name Surnames meaning that they also have a surname in Column B or C. What I want is the furthest out name to be put into Column A.

E.g. If a persons name is John Hume Jones I want column A to have Jones in it.

Obviously if someone had a 1 name surname there is no issue.

Can anyone find a solution to my problem?

    Thanks!

    is this a solution

    Dave,

not sure if this is what you are thinking or not but I think it does what you want.

just add a new column and put a set of nested if statements into it to pick up the last name. See attached file
