Question Comments boxes changing size and shape

I am developing a large database spreadsheet and am using comments boxes to explain codes to be used. I have copied and pasted some columns from one place to another as I am developing it. I am finding that the comments boxes seem to move around in position, size and shape between the last time I looked at them (by hovering the mouse over them) and the next time. Sometimes when I open one, it has moved to a shape that makes it quite unreadable, like, far too narrow, sometimes even so narrow it is one-dimensional. So I have to go back into "edit" and re-size and re-shape them again before I can read them.

I would like to be able to "freeze" the comments boxes so that they always look like the same.

Hoping someone can help with this?!

    Hi Meredith,

I think this is happening because your comment is setup to "Move and size with cells". To verify this, right-click on the cell with the comment and choose Edit Comment. Then right-click on the comment's border and choose Format Comment. On the Properties tab, I'm guessing 'Move and size with cells' is selected. Change that to 'Don't move or size with cells' (or 'Move but don't size with cells') and click OK.

You may have to resize the comment initially, but it will then hold it's shape. If you have a lot of comments, you may need a macro to change all of their settings. Or, you can do it manually to each one.

Instead of comment boxes, you could try (in the top menu bar), select Data, Validation, and select tab that says "Input Message". Name the Title and type the message that you want to display when that cell is selected.
