    Scrolling in Protected Cells?

I just made the jump to Office 2007, and so far have not been liking the differences made.

I usually work with protected sheets issued to me. Previous versions of Excel have allowed me to view and select each and every cell protected or not (just not edit it). It made navigating my large excel sheets possible with the arrow keys. The new version of excel makes navigating with the arrow keys only available to unprotected cells (which in my case there are very few of).

Is there a way to keep the cells protected, but still be able to use to arrow keys to highlight and navigate the sheet.

    Help Please!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hi orange,

The problem isn't with Excel 2007, it's with the way the sheet was protected. In both 2003 and 2007, when protecting the sheet, you are given about a dozen options to determine the type of protection. The first two items in the list are "Select Locked Cells" and "Select Unlocked Cells". My guess is that whomever saved that worksheet forgot to check (or un-checked) the box for 'Select Locked Cells'.

Unprotect your sheet, then when re-protecting make sure the first two boxes are selected.

In 2007, on the Home tab (ribbon bar), in the Cells section click the drop-down arrow and select Unprotect Sheet. Type in a password if necessary. Then click the drop-down again and select Protect Sheet, make sure the two 'Select' boxes are checked, type a password if needed and click OK.
