Using check boxes on protected worksheets

    Hi

My spreadsheet works nicely until I protect it. Then every time I click a check box I get the following message:

"The cell or chart you are trying to change is protected and therefore read-only".

    Any ideas anyone?

    Hi Penny,

Sure - every time you check/uncheck the checkbox, the value of the control's link cell toggles between TRUE and FALSE. If the link cell is Locked and the worksheet is protected, attempting to change this value produces the error message you're seeing.

Simple solution - unprotect the worksheet, select the link cell, use Format > Cells > Protection, uncheck the Locked box, click OK, and then reprotect the worksheet.

Hope this helps - please let me know how you get on.

    Regards,

    Greg M
