Updating a selection/worksheet within a spreadsheet

Is it possible to update ONLY a selection of external references within a workbook? I now know how to update manually the entire thing (Edit / Links / Update Values) but if I only want to update a single column or a single worksheet...is this possible?

Oh, and I posted this a few weeks back but it seems to have vanished...so if someone already answered it, can you do it again *hopeful look*.

put an example of what you mean always helps to quicken the process.

if you have many different columns with different formulas you could copy the entire page and special paste it (choosing Values) into a separate sheet and then update the column you want to work on this way no of the other columns on the sheet will update.

I'm not sure if there is another way around this but this is the only way i know at the moment.

I was not sure what would happen if I tried to put up an example with external references (they'd all just say that the reference didn't exist).

Anyways, here is the file. I've placed what I want in the September tab. Each month would update to a difference place. Some data is automatically generated into the spreadsheet through our management system, other data is manually keyed into the external spreadsheets I'm linking to. What I would like to be able to do is ONLY update a month at a time. I am trying to make our statistics process as quick as possible and the way you are suggesting would over-write any of the statistics which are automatically generated.
