What Format Is My Date In?

I have a date in my workbook of 39335 which I know should be 09/10/2007

How do I get the 39335 to look as it should?

    Thanks!
    Dave

This, for some reason, causes the date to become 10/09/2007. However formatting it as MM/DD/YYYY caused it to look like it should - 09/10/2007.

    Its working, but unsure why?

    Thanks though!

Excel stores dates as numbers starting with 01/01/1900 which equals 1 so 39335 equals 10th Sept 2007.
