    Read only issue

I have a problem with a created workbook I have.
    On opening I get a pop-up asking

'Workbook.xls' should be opened as Read-Only unless you need to save changes to it. Open as Read-Only ?
with the options yes , no , cancel

How can I prevent this pop-up from appearing

tried that link it gives exactly the same solution

Turn Off the Read-Only Prompt and Save File in the Excel 97-2000 & 5.0/95 File Format
    1. Open the file in Microsoft Excel 2000.
    2. When you are prompted to open the file as read-only, click No.
    3. On the File menu, click Save As and, in the Save as type list, click Microsoft Excel 97-2000 & 5.0/95 Workbook.
    4. In the Save As dialog box, on the Tools menu, click General Options.
    5. Click to clear the Read-only recommended check box, click OK, and then click Save.

The problem I have is I do not have a general options tab in the dropdown menu.
The options I have are Delete, Rename, Print, Properties (all of which are shaded) and only Add to Favourites, Map Network Drive selectable

    Glad you got it sorted.

Not sure why you wouldn't have the general options tab

Do a google search to see if someone else has had the same problem

    ukphoenix,

Are you sure you clicked file > save as and not file open just below.

Both dialog boxes look the same but the file > save as has the general options tab
