    Increment a selection

    How do I add 1 to every cell from B10 to B16?

    All cells from B10 to B16 contain constants. I want every one of these constants to be incremented by 1.

    I tried the following: Select B10 => put the cursor over the small square at the bottom right hand side of the cell => hold down Ctrl => a + sign comes up => hold Ctrl and drag down to B16.
    If I release Ctrl before releasing the left mouse click, the entire selection gets autofilled with the first constant.
    If I release Ctrl after releasing the left mouse click, the entire selection gets autofilled with numbers obeying a rule that I have not figured out yet, but it is definitely not increment..

    Hi, try doing this:

    1. Type the number 1 in any empty cell
    2. Copy that cell
    3. Select B10:B16
    4. Click Edit -> PasteSpecial... -> Add
    5. Click OK
    6. Delete your cell with the 1 in it.

    Hi Beduerftiger,

    To increment a set of constants by 1, enter 1 into a blank cell, select & copy this cell (ie [ctrl + c]), select B10:B16, [alt + e + s + d], and [enter].

    Thanks for the feedback, pleased we could help :-)

    Paul, you're too quick!
    I thought I'd be the first with this one but it seems the ol' pc's going a bit slow today ;-)
