    Excel 2007 Autosave

I have a client who is annoyed by a certain characteristic of Excel 2007: any open files are autosaved regardless of whether the file has actually been modified. The reason this is an issue is because the client often uses timestamps to sort files etc. Since the autosave changes the modified date of the file, this feature is messing things up a bit.

They would rather not turn off autosave if they don't have to. Has anyone else dealt with this?

    Hello bg380,

You can turn off the Auto-Save feature in Excel 2007 by:

    1. Click the Microsoft Office button (logo in top left corner)
    2. Click Excel Options
    3. Click Save
    4. De-select the "Save AutoRecover information every x minutes check box"

    Auto-Save isn't new to Excel 2007, so you're aware.

My post indicates that we would rather not turn off autosave, but thank you. I'm also aware that previous versions had the feature. However this seems to be the first version that autosaves regardless of whether something was modified, which is the real issue as I mentioned in my post. Does anyone else have a suggestion?
