When is a "Comment" not a Comment?

Hello everyone. This is my first post.

I have an Expenses spreadsheet that shows a text box similar to a Comment when a particular cell is selected, but it is not a Comment. When I select cell M6, the box pops up automatically, but I cannot figure out what it is. A small Jpg file is attached so you can see what i mean. Can anyone help? I would like to use this in spreadsheets I create.

    Thank you in advance.

That's a message box from Data Validation that can be placed on a cell or range of cells.

    Thank you

Thank you so much. I use Data Validation all the time to ensure proper data entries but did not think of looking there.
