Absolutley Ron, they both work great. One more thing. What if in my date column I had for example Jan 4, 2003 13:30. For some reason the VLOOKUP won't work with the time. Is there an add on to the formula I can use?

    Kindest regards,
    Martin.

    locate data with 2 variables

If there are Date/Times in the HelioData sheet, then I'd use a variation of the same approach:

Hi Ron, no I couldn't get it to work. I have attached the sheet. Still wont work with the time element present.

    Warmest regards,
    Martin.

Posting the workbook helped immensely. I thought you wanted to lookup a date against a date/time value.

I prefer to avoid array formulas....most of the people I work with NEVER remember to CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER after they edit them. :\

    Does that help?
