IF formula based on background cell colour

Hi,

Is it possible to use an IF formula based upon the background colour of the cell. For example I would like to calculate based on

IF(background colour = yellow,1,0)

Similarly can this be used with a COUNTIF formula e.g.

COUNTIF(a1:a8,background colour is yellow)
