Edit Validation List

Hi -
I received a shared Excel spreadsheet that is stored on Sharepoint. I need to add values to the validation list, but the "validation" option is unavailable. Any ideas?

Go to Tools|Share Workbook and uncheck "allow changes by more than one user....." in the Editing tab.

Remember to recheck it later for sharing..

I have now tried to add additional values in the cell, but I get an error that says "the value you have entered is not valid. A user has restricted values that cannot be entered into this cell." Yet if I move up within the same column, there are additional values - something is odd....

Would appreciate any further guidance!

That error means that someone has created a data validation condition in the cell you are typing in...and that you are typing something that is not allowed.

While on that cell go to Data|Validation and check the condition being applied.
