Using tab key to move from cell to cell

On Excel 2003 my tab key seems to be stuck moving all the way over when i hit it instead of moving to the next cell. it is making my life miserable, does anyone know how to fix this? it's not my keyboard. every time i hit tab it jumps like 10 cells over and i have no idea why. Please help!

Hi there,

It may be that the cells you are trying to tab into are locked. If this is the case, Excel will skip them if you are using a protected worksheet. Unprotecting will resolve this.

Alternatively, go to Tools > Options > Transition tab. See if 'Transition Navigation Keys' is checked. If so, uncheck it.
