Copying a function to cover many cells

Alright it's going to be very hard for me to explain this.

    I have a column. Column J
I need the entire column to have the function =Product(H?:I?)
I need to know how I can do this since i'm messing with almost 3,000 rows.
The question marks refer to the row intersecting at column J. I need Excel to input this function all the way down to line 2835 so I don't have to keep typing in =product(H51:i51) [enter] every time I want the Product of cells H51 and J51.

is there a quick way to do this? or am I stuck typing it in every cell?

If i understand correctly, you just want the formula to copy down so that it references the row its in...so once you hit 3000 it would be Product(H3000:I3000)....if thats the case then write what you need in the first cell...highlight it and hit ctrl+c (copies)...go down to your very last cell and before you click the last cell hold down shift+click...this will higlight all the cells from your first one to the last one...hit ctrl+v (paste) and that should work...

Hopefully this is what you need

    No problem, glad it helped.

Another way to copy down (if your list wasn't so long i'd recommend it) is..when you have the cell highlighted..go to the bottom right corner of that cell, your cursor will turn into a bolded + sign...click and drag down

A quicker way - if you have data in an adjoining column to the left i.e. A1:A3000 and your formula is in B1, then double-click on the bolded + and it will auto-fill in a split second down to B3000
