    auto colour formatting

    Hi

I have a series of cells which calculate the date various information is required by, which get overtyped when information is received.

Is it possible to have the cell automatically highlighted when the formula is present, but clear when it has been overtyped?

    Thanks for your help

    Jon

    Hi there,

Excel has a tool for tracking changes that highlights cells when they're altered. Go to Tools > Track Changes > Highlight Changes. This should do what you're after.

    Hi SamuelT

    Thanks for the response.

Do you know of an alternative method, as ideally the highlighting needs to be permanent, and I'm not keen on the workbook being shared.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello again,

    Take a look at this:

    http://www.mrexcel.com/archive/Dates/21403.html

The article details a means of creating a UDF that you can use to conditionally format cells to indicate if they're formulas or not. Just had a go and it works fine.

Hope it all makes sense! Let me know if there's problems.
