    percentage:waht i need is a way of calulating the percentage of number i

    i am trying to wrk this out
    in cel ref a5 to a15 will be numbers
    waht i need is a way of calulating the percentage of number is the ref a5 to a15
    not the =sum(a5:a15)/15
    the number between the cells a5 - a15 will vary what i need is a way of calulating what percentage of the cell ref has been filled in

    This is unclear. In your example, the range is 11 cells. Are you asking how many of the cells are not blank, expressed as a percentage? So that, if 3 of the cells are not blank, the percentage would be 3/11 = approx 27%?
