    VLOOKUP function

Hello - I have XL2007 and am trying to utilize the VLOOKUP function. Text from the cell for which I expect to see a result:

    =VLOOKUP(A2,'COUNTY INFO'!$A$1:$C$56,2,FALSE)

Unfortunately, that is also the result of my formula. Has anyone else seen this happen? How did you fix it? Is my formula wacko?

    Thanks, JBG

    Hi JBG,

Is that cell formatted as Text? If so, anything you type into it - even a formula - will appear exactly as typed.

Right-click the cell and click Format Cells. On the 'Number' tab, under Categories select 'General' and click OK. Double-click your cell to activate it and then press Enter. The formula should then work as intended.

If that's not the problem, do any other formulas show up like that, or is it just that one?
